Smithsonian - 210 piece Ryan NYP Spirit St Louis

On May 20, 1927, pilot Charles Lindbergh took off from New York City and headed east. Thirty-three hours, 30 minutes, and 3,610 miles later, he landed safely at Le Bourget Field, near Paris, France. He accomplished his historic flight in the Ryan NYP Spirit of St. Louis. It was the first solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean from the United States to Europe.
