When your character is badly hurt, this specialty d20 with icons instead of numbers decides if they can keep fighting or if they're out of the game.
Roll the die:
● Three successes means your character is safe for now.
● Three failures means your character is defeated.
Look at the icons:
● Rolling a success icon (heart outline) moves you closer to safety.
● Rolling a failure icon (broken bone) moves you closer to defeat.
● Rolling a critical failure icon (skull and crossbone) is a bad roll and counts as two failures.
