From the mid-1930s onward, French regulations favored elaborate multi-tone camouflage patterns typically composed of three to five colors separated by thin black outlines. These schemes combined earthy browns, warm ochres, muted greens, and cool greys arranged in flowing organic shapes designed to break up the silhouette of the vehicle at close and medium range.

Each color in the pattern was separated by a black outline. Far from factory-perfect, these patterns were often applied at unit level or depot workshops, resulting in noticeable variation between vehicles.
