The U.S.S. Defiant NCC-74205 was Starfleet’s first true warship. It was originally developed to counter the threat from the Borg, but it was considered to be overpowered and unstable, so the project was abandoned. It was revived after Benjamin Sisko made first contact with the Dominion and realized how dangerous they were.
The Defiant was assigned to Deep Space 9 and, thanks to an agreement with the Romulans, it was fitted with a cloaking device. The model is part of Master Replicas Starship Library - a new range of 4 to 5-inch long models - and is accompanied by a 48-page book that includes a profile of the ship with annotated plan views and in-depth information about the design of the Defiant and the creation of the Dominion.
The book features in-depth interviews with Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’s creators and rare behind-the-scenes photography and production art.
