During the production of The Lord of the Rings, Wētā Workshop was tasked with helping to build up the very foundations of how Middle-earth was to appear on screen.
From the largest of towers to the smallest of Hobbit holes, countless sketches were made detailing every aspect, and although not every concept saw its way onto the big screen, each piece played an important role in exploring the world it belonged to.
